Microsoft Developer "Cut right to the code"

I developed the concept for these assets in an attempt to get the attention of developers—an audience that is notoriously weary of marketing efforts. This social campaign used ASCII art, rebuses, “l33t code”, and simulated dev environments to catch developers' attention.

Developers (aka, devs) are notoriously weary of marketers and their wares. In an effort to lower their defenses, we devised a campaign around familiarity, irony, and nostalgia. In the case of this infographic, I framed the content within a simulated, but authentic, dev environment. The ASCII art references secret messages playfully hidden within many otherwise very serious companies' corporate website source code.

These banners use ASCII art to compose "secret" messages using ironically archaic L33t code and rebuses (ref. Paul Rand's IBM poster) to say "cut to the code."
