When SDG&E designed its iOS app in 2011, it provided customers several key uses including an Energy Usage Calculator, a map tracking power outages, and a bill “tour” helping users understand their energy bills.
This case study focuses on the Energy Usage Calculator.
We used collaborative whiteboard sessions to work out the broad strokes.
These were particularly useful when accounting for technical specifications like data sources and identifying key stakeholders.
Formal wireframes enabled us to define discreet micro-workflows.
